Company overview

AngloGold has 17 gold mining operations in 9 countries.1 In South Africa AngloGold has five gold mines, three at its Vaal River operations (Great Noligwa, Kopanang and Moab Khotsong) and two at its West Wits operations (Mponeng and TauTona). AngloGold also has a number of surface operations at both of these locations.2 The surface operations extract gold from marginal ore dumps and tailings storage facilities and uranium is also produced as a by-product. In 2015, AngloGold’s total number of employees in South Africa was 28,326.3
