Company overview
Northam Platinum is a platinum mining company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Its primary products are platinum, palladium and rhodium. According to the Northam’s website, its businesses rely on the Zondereinde and Booysendal PGM mines, and its own metallurgical operations, including a base metals removal plant and smelter, located on the Zondereinde lease area in Limpopo, near Thabazimbi.1 Northam states on its website that it is “independent of the other major South African platinum producers” and that it refines its metals though a private German company called Haraeus in Port Elizabeth and in Germany.2
Northam has 11,312 employees.3
