Company overview

Royal Bafokeng Platinum Limited (RBPlat) is a mid-tier platinum group metals producer which operates the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine. The company is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

RBPlat originated from a joint venture between Anglo American Platinum and Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) known as the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine Joint Venture. In January 2010, RBPlat obtained a 67% majority interest in the joint venture and took over operational control. In November of the same year RBPlat listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

RBPlat mines in the Merensky and UG2 reefs on the Boschkoppie Styldrift and Frischgewaagd farms in the Rustenburg area. Its two main operations are the Styldrift mine and the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine (BRPM).

The company employs approximately 7,000 people.1
